Kicking off SCD’s 18th Season, SCD aligns with Sarasota’s beloved and talented arts organization, Westcoast Black Theater Troupe, in SCD + WBTT. This collaboration will release a spirit-filled song and dance experience for our audiences, opening the season with the expectation to ELEVATE Sarasota Contemporary Dance alongside our community’s best.

2024 launches with artists who have influenced the company in a collaboration that will EXPAND the breadth of SCD’s repertory. SCD invites back choreographer/dancer Alyson Dolan (2006-2010) and composer/musician Drew Silverman (2009-2010) to cocreate with Artistic Director, Leymis Bolanos Wilmott. Evolving/Revolving: Alyson Dolan & Drew Silverman, is a captivating new, multi-disciplinary work with projection design by New College of Florida student Lindsey Jennings.

This Spring, SCD advances its season favorite. Dance Makers 2024 features a broad range of dance styles and imaginative works by nationally acclaimed choreographers and enlightens our audiences while stretching our understanding of EMBODIED expression. This year’s performance will feature Tap choreography by Frances Bradley-Vilier, Jazz by Courtney Jones, interdisciplinary work by Andrea Ward, and, closing the show, a group work entitled “JUSTICE” by Vincent Hardy. Audiences, new and old, enjoy this diverse palate of contemporary artistry year after year.

SCD’s 18th Season exhale, closes with a performance ESSENTIAL for the company's longevity and raising the next generation of choreographers and dancers. Voices - Rising Choreographers presents new works by choreographers selected from SCD's Summer 2023 Intensive Programs and chosen by Artistic Director Leymis Bolaños Wilmott. The choreographers' work not only showcases the strength, charm, and diversity of the SCD but also of SCDE (Sarasota Contemporary Dance Ensemble), our training company.
