Carolina Garcia Serpa is a high school and college graduate of the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. She began her professional teaching experience with the National High School Dance Festival and the Florida Dance Festival. In Brooklyn, NY she worked with the Urban Bush Women dance company. She has been teaching and performing in the Tampa Bay area since 2003 and has been a teaching artist with VSA Florida since 2007. With her husband Carlos and children, Kateri and Braulio she has a dance ministry project entitled New Vessels with Living Water. She continues her quest to become a teaching artist professional that “enters community” with the intention of utilizing the knowledge, background and experiences that already exist in the groups. By helping to direct and make light of the strengths that are present and by never denying the adversities that come into play, she hopes to create a safe ground where everyone will come away more fortified, more empowered and yes more educated !
